Real quick- a unique way of going green for your wedding

Many of you have already seen this, or at least heard about this, but I just had to repost because its very inspirational.

Andrea Parris and Peter Geyer of Spokane Washington are attempting to pay for their wedding costs by collecting and recycling cans. About $400,000 cans. And as of today, they have reached over 85% of their financial goal: $3,800 total.

They created a website to receive donations from folks who want to help out.

I think its just a testament to those who want to have the wedding of their dreams, but don’t have the financial means to. And, their devotion to making that money in a “green” way is really inspiration. A-ok in my book!

Check back Monday- new website!!

Green favor idea- the pinky tree

Kibo_Smoothy-500HKibo_Smoothy-Cap-500H

I came across this favor idea a few days ago and I just had to share. A Pinky Tree.

greenpearlsonafinger

From their website:

Pinky Tree is a living baby plant growing in a 2″ capsule. The plant will grow in its “incubator” for about 6 months to one year depending on the species and will continue growing once repotted.

The Pinky Trees can be used as a key chain, a handbag accessory, a mobile phone charm or can also be displayed without their capsule tops, as a little desktop garden.

Because they are alive and growing, the Pinky Trees are the perfect symbol for a new couple and can be offered as an adorable green wedding favor. In this case, your names or your wedding date can be imprinted on the capsule tops.

A study in fresh, organically grown wedding flowers

Ok dear readers! I’m happy to say that after slaving away all weekend, I have now completed our save-the-dates My hand is spasming from all the calligraphy I have had to do, but thankfully its over and they look amazing!

On to blogging fun!

Here are a few really wonderful pictures via Style Me Pretty. Martha Andrews of Blooms by Martha took these series of photographs highlighting one of her eco-friendly brides as she chooses the flowers she wants for her arrangements.

From Martha herself:

I live in the country and have a neighbor who grows flowers to sell at farmer’s markets. So Hillary’s wedding was a perfect match! I try to buy flowers for my weddings during Foothill Flower Farm’s growing season. A week before the wedding, Hillary, her mom, her groom and I went to Foothill Flower Farm and walked the gardens.

Green wrapping from Chewing the Cud

One of the most annoying things about parties, weddings…well really the whole darn gift giving industry is the waste. I hate it. But I would definitely not be offended if one of our wedding gifts came one of these little beauties:

These amazing items are Fabric Gift Wrap by Chewing the Cud. How adorable are they? I imagine you could easily make your own, but think about how reusable this wrapping is. I can think of a million different uses, and none of them involve throwing them into a landfill to slowly degrade away.

Each of these lovely items have wonderful pearls of wisdom- give luck, give love, give cheer, and give wisdom (not shown).

Chewing the Cud is also a great invitation company to keep on your radar if you are a newly minted green bride-to-be. They make a lot of eco-friendly products using …

DIY table numbers

I came across this lovely idea while perusing OnceWed, and I just had to share it with you all- DIY table numbers!

diy-table-numbersdiy-wedding-table-numbersdiy-wedding-table-number-ideasCreated by Dolci Odille

Supplies:
Sticks, moss, hot glue gun, fabric, pots, paint, sewing machine (if you have
one), needle & thread, paintbrush, kraft paper and stuffing.

1. Start by printing out the template on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper, which
contains patterns for the circle and numbers.

2. Cut out the circle and number you wish to make from the printed sheet of
paper.

3. Cut two separate circles out of fabric. Then, cut a number out of the
fabric.

4. Next, take the number and hand-stitch it onto the center of one of the
fabric circles.

5. Once that is finished, take both of the circles (with the number facing
inward) and sewn them together near the edge leaving an inch open at the
bottom.

6. Turn the circle inside out and fill with stuffing.

7. Put the stick in the …

Real wedding- Arkansas, cotton, and love

Its Saturday, the sun is out and shining (a rarity in San Francisco), and I’m so happy that I felt inspired  to post this beautiful DIY wedding a day early:

Isn’t that field of cotton amazing!

From the paper designer, Miss Pickle’s Press:

The wedding invitation was a double sided 11×17 poster that was folded like a road map, bound with orange spice colored yarn and delivered in a kraft mailer. Their story of how they met and fell in love is written like a story on the poster.

The RSVPs  were vintage styled postcards of glacier national park in the early 1900s (where the groom worked) and another one featuring turn-of-the-century

Engagement photos
